Medial Epicanthoplasty
This surgery involves cutting the epicanthal fold (mongolian fold) at the inner corner of the eyes to expand the horizontal width inward, giving the eyes a larger appearance. When combined with double eyelid surgery, it can help achieve a parallel double eyelid shape more easily. It is especially recommended for individuals whose eyes are spaced far apart. However, for those with closely spaced eyes, this procedure may bring the eyes even closer together, so an upper eyelid incision may be a better alternative.
Anesthesia Method
- Local Anesthesia
Downtime
Recovery time is approximately one week, though this can vary by individual.
The scar may remain red and firm for a while after surgery but will gradually soften and fade over the course of several months.
Possible Symptoms and Issues After Surgery
Swelling, bruising, asymmetry, results differing from the desired shape, and residual scarring.
